These curls?

Are really hard to wash throw up out of.

The Question Women Have Been Asking For Years…

Ξ October 28th, 2008 | → 7 Comments | ∇ Kids |

Chloe: What is Luke doing outside?

Me: He’s banging things with sticks.

Chloe: Why?

Me: He’s having fun.

Chloe: He thinks that is fun?

I’m sure she’ll ask that exact same question many, many more times.

I know I have.

Lost in Translation

Ξ October 7th, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Kids |

Audrey says : I onta eat bugs.

Audrey means: I want to read books.

Audrey says: I eat bugs.

Audrey means: I ate a bug.

Small difference in pronunciation.

Worlds of difference in meaning.

And sometimes some wings to clean off her tongue.

It can’t just be a boy thing. Right?

Tonight Luke, Audrey and I were killing time during Chloe’s cheerleading practice. We were wandering outside the church and started counting frogs. Thirteen dead and one alive.

We poked at the live one a little to see him hop, and examined the dead ones because we could see some vertebrae. Luke asked if he could could step on a dead one, and I let him on one that was so dried out it was flat.

Then an older boy came out and grabbed the live one and was holding it. We went back inside and within a few minutes I noticed the boy tossing something into the air.

I hoped the frog had gotten away and he was catching a rock.

But he missed catching it, and it splatted on the ground.

And then, seriously, he peeled it off the ground to throw it some more.

Obviously it wasn’t a rock.

So, ok, this seems like something a boy of 10 or 11 years really shouldn’t do. I mean, tossing a live frog high up in the air and dropping it repeatedly?

Tell me this isn’t just a boy thing. I can teach Luke not to do that kind of thing, right?

At least I was prepared

When I saw the look on Audrey’s face tonight I was able to grab a towel to catch the throw up.

Which I was very thankful for since she had just eaten two bowls of mixed berries.
