It’s Bloggy Efficiency

1. I have been meaning to post my bloggy to-do list for BooMama’s Before and After, with accompanying Before pictures, but they have been sitting on my camera for lo these many days, so here is the list without pictures:
- Paint the walls that connect my kitchen, dining room and living room
- Weed the front planter (because even though I swore off weeding, it’s really out of control and embarrassing)
- Hang the wall clock (which sounds easy, except it is all in separate pieces, so there are 15 numbers and the hands, plus the wall has to be painted first.)
The goal is to have these finished by July 25th, and then post the afters.
We’ll see.
2. If you were wondering about the scrapbooking poll, here’s how it broke down:
- 12 of you love scrapbooking and want to see more of it.
- 11 of you don’t do it, but enjoy looking at people’s pages.
- 2 of you hate it and would like it to stay on it’s own page.
3. I apologize in advance to the two of you who hate it, but my next post is scheduled to be about how I totally revamped the way I scrap and fell in love with it all over again.
4. That post will probably come sometime in early 2009 since Audrey has croup, Isaac is back from his Field Exercises and is sick, and Chloe has decided she is 2 and not 5 and is having tantrums.
5. Chloe has her first loose tooth. Any ideas on things to do other than the tooth fairy?

I didn’t even want to START the whole tooth fairy thing. Three (four) kids and 20 teeth each…yikes. But there is the Mom Fairy, who puts the tooth in a little container and the child wakes up to a small surprise in its place. Usually sugar-free gum.

Stretch Mark Mama, GREAT IDEA!
We never did the ‘tooth fairy’. Yes, we put a little moula under the pillow, but it was more for the fun and elliment (sp) of surprise than anything else. I guess only have 2 kids, makes a big differance. Here’s what we gave…
Front tooth - $1
Molars - $5
I remember my honey saying, “That’s inflation for ya! When I was a kid, I got 10 cents!” LOL
I’m curious to read other thoughts and ideas!

The tooth fairy leaves an orgami folded dollar near our kid’s toothbrushes. The tooth fairy was tired of stepping on toys, so she started collecting teeth by toothbrushes- she checks to see you’re taking care of your teeth, you know.

We just started doing the tooth fairy at our house, since my 5 1/2 year old has decided that it would be cool to have no teeth by the time he turns six. I’m not very creative but the tooth fairy leaves him a little note written in silver pen. We’ve never done Santa or anything so this is the one thing he believes in. I don’t know why but I think it’s cute. LOL.

We never had the tooth fairy growing up. We had a little ceremony to make sure that another tooth would grow in its place. If it was a bottom tooth, we had to throw it up (for example, onto the roof). If it was a top tooth, we had to throw it down (off a balcony or something).

We have always done the Tooth Fairy at a dollar a tooth. Silas had to have two teeth pulled to make room for large ones coming in so the dentist put them in a little blue plastic chest. I left the money, but completely forgot to take the teeth! I was mortified until I realized that he hadn’t opened the chest, so when he wasn’t looking, I swiped the teeth and then later asked him if he actually looked inside and when he did and saw nothing was there, he said, “How nice of the Tooth Fairy to leave me the cool box!” Another time I just completely forgot about leaving money. Silas was so sad about being forgotten that the next night I hand wrote an old-fashioned looking note from the Fairy, apologizing, and made amends. He loved the note more than the money and kept it around for quite awhile. As for the whole Santa thing - the kids asked me just a few months ago if Santa was real. I said, “Do you want the truth, or do you want the story?” They said they wanted the truth, so I told them he was made up just for fun and that mom and dad really leave the presents. They didn’t seem to care one bit, there were no tears or emotional set-backs. I was glad the ruse was over - I never liked Santa taking credit for my hard work and ideas!

Oh, and as for suggestions: you could leave a book instead of money. Or you could have her sell the tooth directly to you, and then she gets to directly donate the money toward a good cause, or buy something nice for someone else, that sort of thing, so that sharing is incorporated.

Sorry - no tooth fairy ideas here - although I enjoyed everyone else’s! But I for one can’t wait for some scrappy posts
And good luck with the list!

JD did the temper tantrum thing when he was five too. It shocked me, as I thought we were over that stage long ago. He’s always been emotional though.
No tooth fairy ideas. We told JD that she wasn’t real but just fun, so we did the under the pillow for a coin thing with his 1st tooth, but with his 2nd he didn’t want to. He was mainly excited to see his teeth and he’s saving them! Gross, eh?
