5 year old logic

Luke: Mommy, we learned in church that God made people out of dirt. So it’s ok if I lick the sand off my hands.

How in the world?

Ξ November 23rd, 2009 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Kids |

Anyone know how my children can simultaneously:

1. Have two loads of clean laundry to put away
2. Have nothing to wear
3. Have an overflowing dirty laundry basket
4. Need me to buy them more clothes

Question of the Day

Ξ September 14th, 2009 | → 5 Comments | ∇ Kids |

“Mommy, in Ice Age 3, if Sid was trying to milk a boy cow, what did he grab?”

I was going to call this Wordleth Wenthday

But the picture sat on my camera for too long…

toothless

Chloe lost three teeth last weekend, and I am enjoying the resulting lisp.  I can’t help but giggle a little each time she talks to me.

I’m not being mean about it.  I’m just enjoying the cuteness.

Because lately when I look at her, I marvel at how BIG she is.

At six and a half years old, I see so few signs of the baby that once was, that I revel in the reminders that she’s still little.  That she’s still my baby.

Even if she gets a little more adult with every tooth lost.

A boy, a girl and some pattern blocks

Ξ June 18th, 2009 | → 5 Comments | ∇ Homeschool Stuff, Kids |

Pattern blocks are one of those activities that really show the differences between my kids’ temperaments.

Pattern Blocks

Luke quietly concentrates on putting each piece exactly in its space.

PB2

Chloe keeps up a running monologue about what she’s doing and makes up stories behind everything.

PB4

She calls this one “Four Fox Faces Kissing a Square.”

PB10

The biggest difference between the two is how they react when they finish.

Chloe basks in my approval…

PB5

Luke cheers for himself…

PB6

Then jumps up and down…

PB7

Then, inexplicably, roars like a lion.

PB8

Audrey, you’ll note, is not pictured.  We had to put her down for her nap when we started because her favorite thing to do is knock everyone else’s patterns down.

And unfortunately, Chloe and Luke have the exact same reaction to that.

And it starts with screaming and ends with crying.
