I don’t know why this makes me cry…

But every time I watch it, I tear up.

It may just be some big publicity stunt in reality, but it just seems so optimistic and hopeful and joyful to me.

Childhood Nicknames

Ξ July 28th, 2009 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Everyday Stuff |

I was reminded of the childhood nickname that my parents gave me the other night.  I was in the kitchen doing dishes and threw something away, then turned around and ran into the wall with the left half of my body.

Then took a step back, started walking, and bumped into the fridge with the right half of my body.

My childhood nickname?  Bumper, or Christy-Bump.

Given due to my tendency to walk face first into walls as soon as I learned how to walk.

It’s no secret that I’m clumsy.

The thing about being clumsy, though, is that it just makes life so much harder.

I mean, I hate dishes enough as it is.  But then I walk into walls and refrigerators.  And then I try to get a measuring cup out, only to drop the entire stack of measuring cups, scattering them across the kitchen.

And then I’m carrying a dirty dish across the room, which I somehow manage to drop, scattering chips across the kitchen floor that was mopped just a few hours earlier.  And then?

I somehow manage to step on several chips, scattering their crumbs across my now dirty floor.

It’s a wonder I ever go into the kitchen at all.  Some day I’m going to give myself a concussion bumping into something.

I’ve Been Cheating on the Blogosphere

Ξ July 14th, 2009 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Fitness Stuff |

It used to be that 99% of my online time was spent with blogs.  Reading them.  Writing them.  Organizing my feeds.

Ok, so I don’t actually organize my feeds.  But I’ve thought about it from time to time.

But several months ago I discovered the message boards at Team Beachbody.

And I never left.

I actually started my journey with Beachbody way back in 2003 after having my first baby.  We were stationed in Japan, and there weren’t many options for me for exercise. I heard great things about something called Power 90, so I ordered it and lost all the baby weight in just a few months. Then I got pregnant again, and I kind of forgot about Beachbody after that.

And I had no idea at the time that they did infomercials.  Good thing, too, because I probably would have written them off if I had!

It wasn’t until after my third baby that I came back to Beachbody. I had broken my ankle when I was six months pregnant (ever see a pregnant woman on crutches? not a pretty sight), and I packed on the weight. 70 pounds. And all I did after having the baby was gain 10 more! I have tried and tried to get to the gym, and last year when Isaac was deployed to Iraq and I was home alone with the kids, I realized that I needed a workout I could do at home and that I LOVED. I needed the workout to motivate me, cuz I sure as heck wasn’t getting the job done.

I started with Slim in 6, then Turbo Jam, then Chalean Extreme. I got active on the message boards, and I haven’t left since! I have started working as an independent coach for Team Beachbody, and I coach people for free!  Tomorrow their newest program, Insanity is scheduled to arrive.  They say it’s the hardest workout ever put on dvd, but I’m actually excited to attempt it.

So, if you’re wondering where I am, or think maybe Insanity has done me in, check out the thread that I host.  If you’re interested in any of the Beachbody workout programs, I can be your coach!  For free :)
