The downside of having kids

It’s a two-hour drive between the house we own in Mississippi and the house we’re renting in Baton Rouge.
And that’s if there’s no construction, traffic or potty stops. And there always is.
All three.
So I found myself the other day an hour into our drive, with the desperate need to pee.
And I fought it for as long as I could, but when I just couldn’t hold it any longer we all pulled over.
And once I said I had to go to the bathroom?
Suddenly the kids did, too.
So there I was, sweet relief just a stall away, helping kids who didn’t really need to go to the bathroom, and trying not to pee my pants.
Standing in a stall with the very creatures whose births weakened my bladder control, watching them dither and play around with the toilet paper, and thinking maybe I’m the one who needed to be wearing the pull-up.
On the bright side, that was our last drive to move stuff. Now we only need to go back to Mississippi to show the house to possible renters.
And since the only people who have shown interest have either been obvious scams or have had both bad credit and a criminal record?
I’m thinking I won’t be facing a desperate search for potty stops any time soon.

Yes – weakened bladder control is DEEFINITELY a downside! Hope you get some decent renters soon without too many useless trip back to the house! Has the move gone smoothly??

That’s so funny. I thought of that today too when I made Lane stop for me on an “only an hour” drive. I didn’t even ask the kids, knowing that this exact thing would happen! I just rushed in by myself, figuring I’ll have to return again with a kid or three.

Ooooh. I should find out what you are renting the house for. My sister is looking for a place…
That story is so funny because I’ve found myself in similar situations so many times! That is a definite downside to the kiddos!
At least they are cute…right?
Hope your move was somewhat uneventful…potty trips aside. I feel bad that you took off before we could get together!
How far from NO are you?

I’ve been away for work for a couple of weeks, so I’m trying to catch up on my blog reading. Why are you moving to Baton Rouge? My husband grew up there & actually spent last week there with the kids visiting family. Email me if I can suggest anything for you there in Baton Rouge.
