It’s that time of year again- A giveaway!

Ξ November 25th, 2008 | → 66 Comments | ∇ Win Cool Stuff |

A confession- I’ve been listening to Christmas music since before Halloween!

Usually I have a hard and fast rule that Christmas does not make an appearance in our house until the day after Thanksgiving, but this year I needed a lift.

The problem is that most of my Christmas cd’s are in the attic, so I’ve been listening to the same 15 songs on my ipod for a month now.

I need some new music.

So, I am giving away two (2!) $15 itunes giftcards. To enter, tell me your favorite Christmas song- one that is actually downloadable by a specific artist, not just a generic carol.

One winner will be picked at random, and the other will go to whomever’s recommendation becomes my new favorite Christmas song.

All entries must be received by Friday, Dec 5th, and the winner will be announced Saturday.

Fa la la, ya’ll.

Alright, don’t judge me on this. Seriously. It’s the first thing that came to mind! Robert Earl Keene’s Merry Christmas from the Family.

I love James Taylor’s Christmas Album, particularly “Deck the Halls”. I think it’s because my parents listened to him and Carly Simon a lot when I was growing up, so his voice brings back memories. And I too have been listening to Christmas music all month!

Well, people have listed some mighty good songs. But, one of my favorites is “Little Drummer Boy” by Jars of Clay.

I love how the song talks about how humble the little boy is, nothing but his drumming talent to “give” to the new King, it reminds me of how I should live my life as well. But, also? The way Jars of Clay use the music and harmonies is just gorgeous. Enjoy!

I loved that video! It was amazing! I always enjoyed doing songs like that when I was in school.

I would have to say my favorite Christmas song is Oh Holy Night by Martina McBride. She is just so powerful in it. She sang it a capella at her Christmas concert for an encore song…the audience just sat there in awe after she was done. She walked off stage before anyone started to clap…then it was just reverent clapping…no yelling or whistling. It was one of those goosebumps all over moments! Thanks for hosting!

I feel ya, sister! My housemates have a strict ‘no Christmas music before Thanksgiving’ rule, but I’ve been sneaking it in my bedroom via Pandora. :) My all time favorite Christmas song is so silly, but one that I remember putting on every year during my childhood: Winter Wonderland by Dolly Parton! It really gives me the warm fuzzies.

Though I traditionally love classic/retro Christmas music, I tend to gravitate toward Celtic holiday music, too. Try this one: Loreena McKennitt’s “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.”

I’ve been listening to Christmas music since before Halloween, too! But we get Thanksgiving out of the way in October, so once Halloween is over, it’s clear sailing to Christmas! :)

    I recently bought Sarah McLachlan’s album, Wintersong. LOVE IT. The title track is beautiful, as is her cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s “Song For a Winter’s Night.” {Warning!! Both might make you a bit emotional, given your temporary lack of husband!}

I just checked out Straight No Chaser — spent half the night watching all the concert clips on You Tube. Thanks for posting about them! I’m going to ask Santa for their album for Christmas. :)

I’ve been listening to Christmas music on the sly for about a month too already. It just felt right this year, even though I usually have no problem waiting for December to arrive. Perhaps it’s the kids. Well, my favorite Christmas album this year is Loreena McKinnett’s A Winter Garden: Five Songs For The Season. My favorite song on it is probably “Seeds of Love.” What I’m going to buy if I win the card…well, it’s either McKennitt’s new Christmas song album or Enya’s new one. Both look perfect! Thanks for the opportunity.

    New here.

I found a song this year that was buried in my memory from my childhood on YouTube and playlist.com. It’s Bing Crosby and David Bowie singing Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy on a Christmas special from the 70s. I don’t know if it’s downloadable on iTunes, but I love it.

I can’t choose just one! How about top 5?
Here are my other favs in no particular order:
Let it Be Christmas – Alan Jackson
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Andy Williams
O Little Town of Bethlehem – Amy Grant
Merry Christmas, Darling – The Carpenters
The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole

    Oops. That’s six. Sorry.
